Professional Bio

With 25 years of experience as a preventive cardiologist, Dr. Stephen Devries now serves as executive director of the Gaples Institute, an educational nonprofit advancing the role of nutrition and lifestyle in medicine. The nutrition course for health professionals developed by Dr. Devries and the Gaples Institute, Nutrition Science for Health and Longevity: What Every Clinician Needs to Know, is now required in the curricula of 16 medical schools and has been completed by more than 12,000 clinicians.

Dr. Devries is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Nutrition at Harvard’s T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where he teaches a course to Harvard public health and medical students on Integrating Nutrition into Clinical Medicine: The Role of Health Professionals as Change Agents.

Dr. Devries and his work in nutrition have been featured in many media outlets, including National Public Radio, The New York Times, and The Washington Post.
