Professional Bio

Anurag Mehta is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine and a preventive cardiologist at the Emory Heart and Vascular Center. He received his medical degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, and went on to complete his cardiology fellowship and postdoctoral research training at Emory, where he was a Katz Fellow in Preventive Cardiology and a research fellow at the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute.

His clinical and research expertise lies in cardiovascular disease prevention, lipidology, cardiometabolic health, and global health. His research focuses on the determinants of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease, with an emphasis on lipoprotein(a), coronary artery calcium, and biomarkers. He has served as Principal Investigator on several industry-sponsored and foundation-funded studies and has authored over 150 peer-reviewed publications in high-impact journals including Circulation, JACC, European Heart Journal, and JAMA Cardiology. Dr. Mehta serves on the National Board of Directors of the American Society for Preventive Cardiology and is an Associate Editor for the American Journal of Preventive Cardiology. He is widely recognized for his national leadership in preventive cardiology and his contributions to advancing precision cardiovascular prevention.
