Professional Bio
Dr. Amrin Kharawala is currently a general cardiology fellow (PGY6) who aims to focus on non-invasive and preventive cardiology in her career. She earned her medical degree from Government Medical College, M.S. University of Baroda, India, before completing her Internal Medicine Residency at Jacobi Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Currently she is completing her Cardiovascular Medicine Fellowship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC).
Dr. Kharawala has focused her training in advanced multimodality imaging and its intersection with preventive cardiology. Dedicated to advancing clinical care models and medical education, she has been working alongside faculty leadership at UNMC in developing a specialized cardio-kidney-metabolic (CKM) clinic and remains deeply committed to teaching and mentoring residents and fellows in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
A recognized emerging leader in cardiovascular prevention, Dr. Kharawala serves as the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Nebraska Chapter FIT Representative, where she directed and developed the inaugural statewide cardiology fellows bootcamp. On a national level, she was selected for the prestigious ACC Fuster Prevention Forum and the American Society of Preventive Cardiology (ASPC) CVD Prevention Training Academy, and she is currently spearheading a national pilot mentorship program with the ASPC. Her research focused on clinical cardiology has resulted in over 30 peer-reviewed manuscripts, over 500 citations and most recently the 'Fellow, Research Award, 2025-2026' at UNMC.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Kharawala is an avid traveler and former travel blogger, a dancer, and a lifelong writer who has been composing original poetry since childhood.
