Professional Bio
Abdul-Rahaman Adedolapo Ottun, MBChB, is an Internal Medicine resident at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, affiliated with the AU/UGA Medical Partnership in Athens, Georgia, with a research focus at the intersection of cardiovascular prevention and real-world outcomes science. His work examines the role of cardiometabolic therapies — including GLP-1 receptor agonists and SGLT2 inhibitors — in modifying cardiovascular risk across high-risk populations, including young women with premature coronary artery disease, patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and individuals with concurrent chronic kidney disease. Using propensity score-matched analyses and national mortality surveillance data, he investigates how guideline-directed pharmacotherapy can be optimally applied to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality at the population level. He aspires to build a career as a clinician-investigator dedicated to closing gaps in cardiovascular prevention through rigorous research, advocacy, and community-centered care.
